world's best fruits!

hahah... in my opinion :D

have eaten at this fruit stall a couple of times already. my bro first intro it to us. the good thing abt this place is that it opens at night only when all the other stalls are closed. its a pretty popular place with freshly cut fruits (meaning they only cut when you order) plus potent healthy fruit drinks. i dont realli like fruits but i love to eat fruits from this stall ! :D

perfect eyesight!

Yes! i have finally done it after years of thinking thinking thinking. i went for lasik surgery and have PERFECT EYESIGHT now!!! yay!!! bye bye spectacles!

(these are the specs i will be donating but i am keeping one for remembrance)

so what's the THING that finally made me do lasik? it has to be that series of pictures taken at taiwan.... *shudder* that dated eighties look of mine with specs... (i think its not totally due to the specs la... apart from the specs, it was that super round face and clothes which i wore that gave that eighties feel)

anyway, finally made up my mind to do it! it also helped tremendously that i had Haw to join me on this 'adventure'. a partner in crime helps bolster my courage.

rather than going to those commercial lasik clinics such as Shinagawa Lasik or The Lasik Clinic, we went to Parkway Eye Center as Haw's fren did her's there and recommended it to us. its always better to go with recommendations. Furthermore, the resident surgeon, Dr Lee Hung Ming, has a excellent track record and many accolades. You can read up more about him and the clinic at http://www.parkwayeyecentre.com/about.html

the experience? the staff were very friendly and the doctor's super smiley and friendly too. he has an assuring presence which it important.

we went down for eye assessment which took about an hour. Results of the assessment were out on the same day - we are certified good candidates for lasik !!! My corneal was thick enough plus pupil size small.. all good :D Then we had to fixed our surgery date. Sadly mine and haw's are different dates due to our schedules. I went ahead to do it first.

on the day of the surgery, i was so excited, so looking forward to perfect eyesight. first they re-tested the eye , then took me to a room where they put eye drops, gave me pain killers (as it would be painful post surgery after anaesthetics wear off) and sleeping pills. next, i am brought to another room where they cleanse my eye area and then off to THE SURGEry Room where i was greeted by smiley dr lee. It was a clean white bright cold room devoid of emotions. Anyway, without going into details, the surgery was painless and over in less than 10 minutes i guess.

post surgery, things appear hazy for the first two days and gradualy clear up. After a week, the doctor said my eye's healing well and i have perfect eyesight!

YAY!!!!

snack of the moment

Bought this from muji - japanese red bean pancakes. Personally, i am not a fan of snacks but tyre is so got this to stock up on my snack drawer at home. Even went back to get another for dad who snacks too, especially at night.

I like that its individually packed and bite sized. plus it not too expenses at $2.90 for 8 pieces. Taste-wise, quite good though a bit too sweet.

cath kidson thank you box

lately, haw brought me to kino to buy magazines - magazines which comes with freebies such as bags, pouches.

when i saw this, i knew i had to get it - Cath Kidson Thank You box. Its a magazine featuring all their products for this season plus a free big cath kidson bag! all for the price of less than SGD25!!!! there's no way i can get cath kidson stuffies for less than $25 - her stuffs are so pretty and girly and pricey :(

anyway, just for fun , i took snap shots of the magazines to post here. enjoy!

bendy pouches galore

back to crafting. haven solved the sewing machine problem yet ... do not know how to troubleshoot it and too lazy to bring it back to the agent to repair, so just make do with the ugly stitches for now.
i cant craft pouches with zippers at the moment due to the stitching problem but with bendy pouches, its ok cuz the stitches can be hidden. here's some of them...

Ring of butterflies.

Got this online from pietstatting.blogspot.com recently and it arrived in my mail! the creator's actually my fren's mum who has a pair of crafty hands. i remember rummaging through her bookshelf of craft books when i was younger and had fun looking through her books, especially those on paper crafts like folding boxes. but her fave craft has to be tatting - which requires lots of eye power and patience (its somewhat like crochet but it uses a finer thread). i never had tat kind of patience to do it.

here's what i got from her blog...

black and white patchwork

finally got needles for my sewing machines. according to the shop which i bought the needles from, the needles for manual sewing machine and electric machine are different and since mine's an electric one, i got the needles which she recommended.

tried it just now and somehow, the stitching turns out very ugly and uneven. shucks... looks like i may need to bring the sewing machine down to the agent for servicing or watever... anyhow, for now, i chose to ignore it and went ahead to sew these patchwork pouches which were waiting to be completed.

one in black/white and another in red. that's all for the patchwork purses. need to find another project to sew.

hexagon patchwork

just came back from shanghai early this week. havent been there for a year already. as usual, went there with my parents.

did up these while i was there. didnt have a sewing machine over there so i had to do some hand-sewn projects. intially, wanted to use these hexagon pacthwork for pouches or coasters. but changed my mind, its going to evolve into a huge unlikely to finish project...

i am going to attempt to do up another quilt cover! a week of late nights equals to 20 hexagons. i think i need another 40 weeks of late nights...

yummy chocolate croutons

whenever i visit daiso, i am tempted by its wide selection of japanese snacks at affordable prices. but never got around to buying it becuase its all in japanese words and i am not really a snack person.

but today, i've got a sudden urge to buy some of the snacks... (prob cuz of my empty stomach.. just mee siam for lunch is not enuff). anyway, i got this one for its pretty packaging and was pleasantly surprise to find out that it tastes just as good. the courtons are crispy yet a bit moist with chocolate and bite-sized! yummy. at $2 per box, i think its worth it.

toy sewing machine

saw a mini toy sewing machine @ suntec toy fair today! struggled a bit on whether to buy or not.

i wanted it to add to my miserable collection of sewing machines (which comprise of my bernina, a medium sized toy sewing machine & a small plastic one from slyvannian family series). but i know it will simply add to the clutter in my room. ever since i started to collect kawaii note pads, fabrics, craft books and stickers, my room's been getting messier.

anyway, didnt take long for me to decide to get it. so here's it ! :D its a set! sewing machine, iron, ironing board, hangers & measuring tape.

a closer look at the stitches. on the top, it looks good
the stitches on the underside's different from actual sewing machines'. well, its a toy machine afterall. will use it for paper crafting instead and hope it works good enuff too :D

green patchwork pouch

while i was packing my room last saturday, i dug out this boxful of scrap fabrics long forgotten ... these are fabrics which couldnt bear to throw them away cuz they are decent sizes which can be use for patchwork crafts... one day...

so i spent last weekend cutting up strips of fabrics to prep for making pouches. as i am terrible at color matching, the safest thing to do would be to do patchwork of the same color scheme instead of different colors, it will be hard to go wrong, i think.

here's the first of the many - patchwork pouch in green.

one tote bag, two uses

just made this! so pretty , but no idea when i will use it or if i will ever use it.

its a tote bag good for carrying A4 size papers and files around with. see the two small flaps hanging from the sides of the bag.. they are actually clips
clip them together

and the slim tote bag's transformed into a tote bag with a bigger base

this time, i added a small tag at the side that reads "handmade" . sooo pretty. it adds a nice finishing touch to the bag :D

now, for the fun part... got snowy to pose in the bag ...she's so adorable!

stuck in jam

was stuck in a traffic jam today :(( there were 2 accidents on the same stretch of road... oh what luck.. a usual stretch which would take me 5 minutes to breeze by, took half an hour instead. so took picture of the new mushroom sharpener which i just got. here's the best shot i got in the car - clear subject, blurry background .

handmade cardholders

made these last weekend. din know what to do other but i just know that i wanted to do something... have to get the sewing momentum going ..

clothes in mail!

bought these online from sashavintage a few weeks back. she has this lovely blog which sells pre-loved clothes and she stays in malaysia. the troublesome thing about buying is that i would need to post her cash (cant transfer to her bank directly due to different currency) which takes about 1 week, and then she needs to post the items to me which takes another 1 week.. its a long wait.. but good wait :D

anyway, its here! 2 dresses and 1 top ! :D its always fun to receive items in snail mail rather than bills bills and more bills.
